What is the value in hiring a color consultant?

Architectural color can truly transform a home, rental, workplace, or business.  A good color palette is the most affordable way to update your space and adds instant value to your property. There are so many variables when working with color, hiring an expert to take away the guesswork saves you time and money.

What locations do you work?

I work directly with homeowners, realtors, businesses, and commercial clients in the San Francisco Bay Area. The majority of my consultations happen in person. I welcome remote consultations and travel for in-person work if the project is the right fit.

What kind of homes do you work on?

The Bay Area is such a wonderful mix of so many architectural styles. I love the challenge of them all – Victorian, Craftsman, Bungalow, Tudor, Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean, Contemporary, to Mid-century Modern.

How much time will the consultation take?

The amount of time you’ll need for your consultation will vary depending on the complexity and scale of your space. The average in-home consultation is around 2 hours. When booking, we will discuss your plans and I will recommend an appropriate amount of time.

How much will the consultation cost?

The cost of a color consultation varies based on the project scope & what services you are looking for. My package rates take into account the number of rooms and finishes being specified. For a fraction of the cost of painting, an interior residential consultation starts at $475 and exterior consultations start at $550. When booking, we will discuss the scope of your project and I will send you a price sheet for various services. From there, we will agree on an appropriate budget for your space.

Do you help with other design services?

Since paint color is only one piece of the puzzle, if you find you want to add more services – I can help suggest wallpaper, hardware, fixtures, fabrics, tile, stonework, roof color, and accents that will help your home come together harmoniously.

Will you work directly with my contractor?

I’m available to speak with your painter or contractor directly at an hourly rate. I am also happy to provide you details on painting techniques, materials, and finishes so that you can have clearer conversations with you contractor and ensure the best results.

Do you provide any visual mock-ups?

An exterior color consultation comes with a Photoshop rendering included in the fee. For all other services, I can provide photoshop renderings and presentation materials as needed at an hourly rate.

What types of paint & brands do you work with?

I prominently work with Benjamin Moore and Farrow and Ball due to their high quality, durability, and color fastness. I love working with Color Atelier for Lime Paint & Plaster. I have a full Benjamin Moore, Farrow & Ball, & Sherwin Williams swatch library - should the client request one brand specifically. I am happy to match color formulas to any brand of paint, but color may differ slightly from brand to brand.
