What to expect from a consultation
1.
We’ll discuss your goals, scope of the project, and cost of the services you need. Next, we’ll make an appointment for an on-site consultation and I will send you a questionnaire to gauge your color and design preferences. Prior to the appointment, I will review photos of your space and we can share any inspiration images that we both have gathered.
2.
During your on-site consultation we will begin by talking through your use of the space – everything from what art, fixtures, furnishing, or landscaping you love to what time of day you use a room. We will look at the natural light, directional exposure, fixed elements, and architecture of your space. We will decide which elements to highlight and which to draw the eye away from.
3.
From there, we will start pulling color. I will bring a complete set of color samples to work with and we will learn what colors you gravitate towards. I will help you see how color comes together in your space and make specific recommendations – narrowing down to a few of your favorites and choosing trim colors that compliment your choices.
Since paint color is only one piece of the puzzle – additional services include reviewing wallpaper, hardware, fixtures, fabrics, tile, stonework, roof color, and accents that will help your home come together harmoniously.
4.
For interior projects – I will leave you with (or express order) large paint swatches to hang on your walls so that you can watch how the color shifts depending on the time of day.
For exterior projects – Following the on-site consultation, I will create a Photoshop rendering of your façade with the narrowed-down color choices. From there we can tweak the color placement if need be and order paint samples to test.
For limewash and other bespoke projects I will hand paint color schemes and samples until we find the perfect shade for your space.
5.
Once you have picked the color, I will create a detailed specification sheet for your painter. This will include color formulas, paint brands, suggested paint finishes and specific placements.
